TEMPLO GUARACY DAS TRADIÇÕES

A non-profit spiritual organization that follows the

Afro-Brazilian Umbanda tradition, affiliated with the Templo Guaracy do Brazil.

Umbanda has its roots in the spiritual traditions of West Africa, brought to the New World during the transatlantic slave trade. In Brazil, these traditions integrated elements of Catholicism and indigenous beliefs and practices, developing mainly in the forms of Candomblé and Umbanda.

There are many forms of Umbanda, and its principles and practices vary from temple to temple. Although the Guaracy Temple has its own distinct philosophy, it deeply respects all forms of Umbanda and all manifestations of wisdom contained in the different spiritual traditions around the world.

The Guaracy Temple of Brazil was legally founded in 1973 by Babalorixá Carlos Buby. Currently, the Guaracy Temple maintains regular activities in Brazil, Europe, and North America.
