Carlos Buby, born Sebastião Gomes de Souza, founded the Guaracy Temple in 1973. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he balanced his activities as a nurse, musician, and spiritual leader. In artistic circles, he received the nickname "Carlos Buby," a name by which he is widely known.

As a composer and singer, Carlos Buby has a YouTube channel where he shares his music and performances. One of his most memorable songs is "Casa de Guerreiro" (Warrior's House), a tribute to the orixá Ogum.
